Memorial Day Weekend
"Heritage Days"
Annually, on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, the Friends of Historic Spring City sponsor "Heritage Days."
Various residents of the city open their historic homes to the public for tours of the homes. There are usually about 15-20 homes open, and if you want to see them all, plan on spending the entire day.
The event is held rain or shine. Tickets run about $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. Toddlers are free if held; $5 if they toddle around themselves.
The entire community is involved and throughout the day there are bake sales, lunch items, and craft items for sale. There is an evening dinner in the park, with entertainment, is also available for an extra charge.
Local artisans give presentations on their particular craft, such as hand-thrown pottery, hand built pioneer wood furniture, rug weaving, etc. Proceeds from ticket sales go to Friends of Spring City, who use the money to help owners of historic homes with repairs or improvements. The entire city is on the National Historic Register as one of the finest examples of early pioneer community planning and home construction in the nation.
