In 1862, Albert Petty, the first settler of Springdale, took his wife to a place he had selected by a large spring and asked her to name it. She called it Springdale. Located at the south entrance of Zion National Park, and set among spectacular scenery, the town survives as an active tourist attraction. In a beautiful outdoor setting, the O.C. Tanner Amphitheater presents a variety of entertainment during th summer months. Shops along Springdale's main street offer Indian jewelry, gemstones and a variety of local crafts and art. Year-round lodging is available. The area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, whether it is hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding or rock climbing.
