Altavista Organizations And Clubs


YMCA - (Young Men's Christian Association) - Probably the most influential part of Altavista, the Y.M.C.A. sponsors such events as The Uncle Billy's Day Race and Uncle Billy's Day. The "Y" has a "hand" in just about everything that goes on in this town. They have wonderful workout facilities including two new indoor and air-conditioned basketball courts, a swimming pool, aerobic rooms, and four baseball fields. The "Y" heads up youth sports programs such as basketball leagues, football teams, soccer teams, the Altavista Y.M.C.A. swimming Dolphins, and softball/baseball leagues. And as always they have summer camps available to all ages of children challenging the mind and body.
