History & History-related items
Here is a history page for Ashburn.
Ashburn has had many names over the years before Ashburn became the official name. Some of them are Farmwell, Old Farmwell, Farmville, and Farmwell Station. It appears there was a nearby mansion by the name of Farmwell that the names were taken from. Ashburn came about when lightning struck an ash tree here which burned for a week in 1896. Onlookers came from miles away to see the "burning tree."
