Return to Index History & History Related Items Bailey's Crossroads history: As one enters this area on Rte 7/Leesburg Pike, there is a sign announcing the area with a picture of a carousel. I have heard that over 50 years ago (maybe even in the 1920's) Bailey's Crossroads was the summer home of the Barnum and Bailey circus. Perhaps at that time it was just the Bailey's circus and hence the neighborhood's name. I have also heard that the buildings that they used for the main office are now the same buildings that are being used as classrooms and offices for the Fairfax-Brewster School (address: 5860 Glen Forest Drive, Bailey's Crossroads VA 22041).
