The Courthouse contains the oldest continuous court records in the nation, dating from 1632. These records are avilable for viewing at the Clerk of Court's Office. The Debtor's Prison is just behind the Clerk's office and dates from about 1644. An ancient whipping post may be seen in the yard beside the prison. Many old homes surviving from colonial times still serve as private residences.
