History & History Related Items Sterling history: Sterling, originally called 'GUILFORD' has been home for a long time. Sterling was just a small town with a church, post office, railroad, store and elementary school which is still standing. Then in the 1960's progress took over and formed STERLING PARK. Now it has been changed back to STERLING. It will never be the same hometown I grew up in. Progress has taken over. The railroad tracks are now part of the WOD Bike Trail. My grandfather worked on the WOD until about the late 1940's.
