A single name, Semiahmoo, served what would become Blaine and Semiahmoo Spit. By 1870, the Homestead Act funneled many farmers to the area, where the town became a supply center for the dairy and fishing industries. Blaine attractions: Blaine is known as the Peace Arch City. The arch's foundation spans the US - Canadian border and is locaed in Peace Arch Park on Boundary Bay. The monument symbolizes almost two hundred years of peace between Canada and the USA.
