The founders of Delavan are known to be Henry and Samuel F. Phoenix, brothers who explored the area and found the land near Delavan Lake to be perfect for their needs. The fown was formed on 2 January 1838. See more on this history page.

Delavan Lake
Like many lakes in Wisconsin, Delavan Lake was formed from glacial ice that retreated. It is a spring-fed lake and has great fishing. It is open year-round with recreational opportunities appropriate to each season.

Economy & Industry


Delavan has a strong agricultural industry with farms for both dairy and beef cattle. Other farms with sheep, goats and poultry are plentiful in the area. Delavan also has over 230 businesses and provides the area with a large portion of its manufacturing and industrial centers.
