Thayne is known for its cheese. The Swiss Cheese Factory, which now makes Mozzarella Cheese, is the place that made Thayne famous. The climate and altitude makes the area ideal for dairying. Thayne residents wanted a better water system in more recent years moving the town to incorporate on 29 March 1947.
