Though historicaly a native area, the community is only about 12.5% Alaska Native or part Native. There is a small village, a lodge and store. An airfield is also located here. The local school was closed in 2000 because of declining enrollment.

Attractions
There is a 4,200 foot long gravel airstrip here. Though the lake is accessible by boat in the summer, there are no road connection to the community. It is considered an isolated village with few modern conveniences. Electricity is available.

Economy & Industry
mainly subsistence. Few jobs are available but the lodge does provide some employment. Besides the hunting, fishing and gathering for food, trapping and dog mushing are also common activities.
