The completion of the Coolidge Dam in the mid-1920's helped to transform this desert area into good, rich farmland. R. J. Jones founded the community with an 80 acre site. The name is to honor U.S. President, Calvin Coolidge, who came to dedicate the dam in 1930.

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
at the north end of the city of Coolidge. This is the site of one of the largest prehistoric structures in North America. It was build around 1300 AD by the Hohokam. No one knows for what purpose they built the structure. Please see the site for hours of operation.
The warm dry climate makes Coolidge an ideal tourist and retirement community.

Coolidge Municipal Airport, located 6 miles east of Coolidge, has 240 acres for industrial development. Various sites are capable of having runway access. The main runway is 5500 ft. long by 150 ft. wide, capable of smaller jet aircraft. The 2nd runway is 3900 ft. long by 75 ft. wide, currently used by the Arizona Skydiving operation. A Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operates on the ariport, providing both Jet-A and AVGAS fuel, as well as minor technical support.
