The weather in Golden Valley is comfortable year-round. Valley temperatures are normally 15 to 18 degrees cooler than the Colorado River Valley. Generally, there are very few days when the temperatures will exceed the above temperature ranges. An evaporative cooler is usually quite adequate to cool homes during the summer. Some form of heating is necessary between November 1 and March 15. Return to Index History & History Related Items Golden Valley history: A portion of historic route 66 goes through Golden Valley. The city has grown tremendously over the years. Back in 1962, there were just 62 residents. Now the area boasts a four lane highway and an area population of 12,000. Golden Valley attractions: The residents of Golden Valley include a mixture of retirees, business owners and employees ofthe surrounding cities. Local businesses include a newspaper printing facility, several retail stores, mini-market/gas stations, automotive services and restaurants, as well as a bank and post office that provide the community with both employment and services. The growth rate of the Golden Valley area has averages 10% for the past five years. This growth is partially due to the affordable price of property. The availability of larger parcels of land and its close proximity to the larger surrounding cities of Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Laughlin, Nevada and the fun and refreshing waters of the Colorado River as well as Lakes Mohave, Lake Mead, and Lake Havasu. There is a Regional Medical Facility in Kingman and a General Hospital inBullhead City. Golden Valley has an excellent Fire Department with qualified EmergencyMedical Technicians. Police protection is furnished by the Mohave County Sheriff's Department.All in all, Golden Valley is a nice place to enjoy the quiet comfort of rural western living, with the convenience of being close to larger cities and an excellent area to invest with great potential for growth and profits.
