History & History Related Items

Pinetop-Lakeside is an incorporated community located in the scenic White Mountains of Arizona. It was founded in the early 1880's by Mormon pioneers. Lakeside derived its name from the area's lakes, and Pinetop derived its name from the nickname of a saloon keeper who served the Fort Apache soldiers. The two communities incorporated as one town in 1984.

Attractions

Pinetop and Lakeside are located on the edge of the Apache Indian Reservation. Due to its high altitude and forest areas, there is much recreational activity in the area. It is a popular vacation area for the desert-dwellers in Phoenix. There is something here for all sportsmen! There are over 40 fishing lakes and more than 300 miles of streams for your enjoyment.
Pinetop-Lakeside is home to 3 major festivals:
The Frontier Days which includes a Chili Cook-off and other western type events.
The Native American Festival which has traditional food, music and dance performances, demonstrations, and art.
the Annual Fall Festival a large arts and crafts show with over 200 artists. It also includes an antique show, Classic Car Show and a 10 K Run.
