History & History Related Items
Willcox history: What began as a small cow town has now become one of the nations major cattle-shipping areas. The wild nearby area was well-known as a haven for outlaws and gunslingers. The old Fort Bowie at Apache Pass, built in 1862 to protect the stage line and isolated settlers from attack, is located not too far away from town. It is accessible, but the last mile or so is only by foot and could be a difficult walk for some.
