History & History-related items
Named for Henry or George Angel, local residents, Angels was created in 1848 and benefited from the gold rush. The town actually mostly burned down in 1855. When re-building occurred, more permanent buildings were erected. Gradually, the mines were closed until the last, the Gold Cliff shaft of the Utica Mining Company, closed in 1942.
