History & History Related Items

When Spanish explorers discovered a creek out of the Santa Lucia Mountains in 1862, they built a town which eventually grew up on both sides of the creek. Passage across the creek was made possible by a rope bridge built in the 1880's. It still remains today and is known as the Swinging Bridge.
