The railroad purchased some land from him for new tracks and the station began to be called Hughson Stop. As the surrounding areas began to grow, land prices also began to increase. Hughson developed his land through the Hughson Town Company. His land and that of John Tully, a nearby landowner, were to make up the area for the town of Hughson. Here is a history page for Hughson.
