The Overland/Coast Line Stage ran through the community as early as 1861 as people passed through beteween San Francisco and Los Angeles. As the Pacific Coast Railway prepared to open its line through the town in the late 1880s, other businesses made their way to Los Olivos. By the time the railroad arrived, the streets had been leveled and land auctions held.
There are many historical Victorian homes and buildings in Los Olivos going back to the turn of the 20th century when the Pacific Coast Railway first came into the area. Here is a history page for Los Olivos.
