History & History Related Items

When the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad arrived in Alamosa, a land boom began that also helped a number of little towns spring up nearby. Hooper is one of these small towns. The spur that came out of Alamosa and went north through Mosca came into Hooper. Most of the rail lines have been removed but here and there you can still see them.

Attractions

Hooper Colorado is home to the UFO Watchtower, located on Hwy 17 justnorth of the town. Many UFO sightings have been reported in the area, so many that a book entitled "The Mysterious Valley" was written. The UFO Watchtower is a great place to go to watch the beautiful night skies, and who knows, you may just see something strange.
