History & History Related Items Collinsville history: Long ago, the technique of die casting was invented here by Elisha Root, who worked for Collins and Company Works where axes were made. Their machetes were almost exclusively used throughout the world during the 1800’s. Most of the town was built up around the factory including homes for the many workers. The Collins Company was in business from 1826 until 1966 when it closed.
