Dewey Beach is a "baby city" compared with many of the other communities in Delaware. It was incorporated recently in 1981. There is no property tax in the town with this mandated by the city charter.

Attractions
Dewey Beach attracts many tourists because of its coastal location. The Atlantic Ocean is its eastern border and Rehoboth Bay is its western borer. It is a popular place for wind-surfing, skim-boarding and catamaran sailing.
The Delaware Seashore State Park is just south of the town.
