History:
Sussex County History - contains a great deal of historical information and pictures.
A number of Native American tribes lived in the area long before the "white man" came. Among these were the Leni Lenape and Nanticoke tribes.
Location:
Sussex County in in southern Delaware.
Sussex County is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the north by
Kent County, and on the south and west by the portion of the State of Maryland
east of the Chesapeake Bay.
The coastal communities are: Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Fenwick Island, Henlopen
Acres, Lewes, Millville, Milton, Ocean View, Rehoboth Beach, Slaughter Beach,
and South Bethany.
Central county communities include Dagsboro, Ellendale, Frankford, Georgetown,
Milford, Millsboro and Selbyville.
The communities of western Sussex are as follows: Bethel, Bridgeville, Delmar,
Greenwood, Laurel, Blades and Seaford.
Geography:
Most of the county's land area is flat terrain.
