History & History Related Items Dania history: A.C. Frost in came to the area in late 1898. By 1902, he had settled in the area which would become Dania. He is considered to be the founder of the community. At that time, most of the people in the area were Danes who had moved from the Chicago area of Illinois. The first name for the community was Modello after the Model Land Company which operated here, but the name had to be changed when they found another place near Miami which had the same name. The new name chosen was Dania after the early settlers ancestry. Dania was known for its tomato farms and packing houses at the turn of the 20th century. Incorporation came for Dania in 1904.
