The town derives it's names from when the L & N Railroad was built. The engineer
laying out the rail line had to put names down for the water/wood stops.
The cattle ranch of Manuel Francisco Gonzalez was located there. He was one of
the early founders of Pensacola. His land was a gift from the Spanish King
Phillip, 1795.
