Kendall was named for Major Kendall, who was an executive of the British Land Company that surveyed and mapped many areas of Florida.

The Bamboo Mound Excavation
After a year long excavation, Cultural Resource Manager, Gary Beiter, found many artifacts such as beads, ceramics, bone points and shell tools. Also, ecofacts were recovered from prehistoric periods, including 2500 B.C. to 1513 A.D. and more.

Attractions

Metrozoo in Kendall is a world renowned innovative facility providing animals with free-to-roam land surrounded by moats. Over 2,000 animals, from over 240 species, inhabit the 290 acres of jungles, forest and trails. Of particular interest are its world-class aviary and the rare White Bengal Tigers.
