Location

Kendall location: in southern Florida, a little southwest of Miami between Coral Gables and Florida City along US Hwy 1. Kendall is about an hours drive from Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, the Florida Everglades and the beginning of the Florida Keys. Other nearby communities include Richmond Heights, Sunset, The Crossings, Palmetto Estates, Pinecrest, Three Lakes, Cutler and Westwood Lakes.

Kendall history:

Kendall was named for Major Kendall, who was an executive of the British Land Company that surveyed and mapped many areas of Florida.

The Bamboo Mound Excavation
After a year long excavation, Cultural Resource Manager, Gary Beiter, found many artifacts such as beads, ceramics, bone points and shell tools. Also, ecofacts were recovered from prehistoric periods, including 2500 B.C. to 1513 A.D. and more.
