Port St Joe Historical Events

1930's
The Port Theater
My Grandfather, Judge Stillwell was a brick mason and built the Port Theater in Port St. Joe, Florida.
My father, Joe Stillwell, was the youngest son of eight children and remembers going to Port St. Joe when he was five while his father and brothers worked on the theater.
My father was born in 1929, so that would mean the theater was built in the early thirties. We were recently there and I called daddy to ask him which building it was, he said, "it's the tallest building in town" -- and he was right...it still is!

1956-57
Coy Clifton Williams, of Port St. Joe, was the original organizer of Little League Baseball in Port St. Joe, Florida. He has since moved to Donalsonville, Georgia. (3/2000)
