A good history of the Kentucky State Flag
Kentucky's State Flag was authorized by an Act of the General Assembly in 1918, but the design of the flag was not approved until 1928.
The legislature didn't officially adopt the design, colors and specs for the flag under 1961 when a project was approved to research the flag and produce some designs. The bill introducing the flag was passed in 1962. It is the only bill with illustrations included in a Kentucky statute.
