History & History Related Items Kenner history: Orginally laid out as Kennerville town in 1855, Kenner was built on the plantations of William Butler and Minor Kenner. Many museums and shops may be browsed in the city's historical and cultural district, Rivertown, USA. Major growth began in the 1950s as land was developed, and swampland filled in.
