It is about 74 miles from Hampton, Virginia and about 81 miles from Norfolk, Virginia. Other nearby communities include Fairmount, Smith Island, Deal Island, Dames Quarter and Chance, all in Maryland and Saxis and Tangier, both in Virginia.

History & History Related Items Crisfield history: This page gives information on history for Crisfield Crisfield was originally settled in 1663 and was then known as Annemessex. Annemessex means bountiful waters from the Algonquian language. The name of Crisfield came from John Crisfield, who helped to bring the railroad to town. With all the local water-related industries in its early years, Crisfield benefited greatly from the ability to use the railroad to ship out their seafood.
