Climate
seasonal with average temperatures in winter of about 22 degrees and average temperatures in summer of about 68 degrees. Precipitation tends to fall year-round with a little less falling during the summer months. Snow falls from November through April with about 20 inches falling during January.

History & History Related Items
First settled in 1629 by Richard Vines, this area was part of Massachusetts and incorporated in 1653. The community was part of Saco for a short while in 1688. It was re-incorporated in 1717 as Arundel and the on 19 February 1821, the name was changed to Kennebunkport. The town has been active in the shipping industry with many ships built here. It remains an important shipping area to this day.

Take a ride on a restored antique streetcare and see many famous collections in three exhibit barns. Shop in the Museum Store for collectibles and other items. Special programs are available including learn to operate a streetcar! Please call for details. Open daily (weekends only May and October).

The Phyllis A was built here at the Warner Shipyard in 1925. See exhibits, tools, artifacts, photos and more.
The Goat Island Light
This light is best seen from the municipal pier at Cape Porpoise. It was built in 1833 and then rebuilt in 1859. It was fully automated in 1990, one of the last in the USA to do so. It became the property of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust in 1969.
