History & History Related Items Mentor-on-the-Lake history: Mentor-on-the-Lake broke off from Mentor officially on 22 October 1924 as a village. It was incorporated as a city on 12 February 1971. It is mainly a residential community with around 100 businesses and little industry. At one time, Mentor-on-the-Lake was known as a tourist resort, but now is a stable, friendly town with many family-owned businesses, parks and activities.
