Location:
About twenty miles west of Philadelphia in southeastern Pennsylvania. Here is a map of the townships of Montgomery County.

Size: 482.4 square miles

Government:
The county is governed by a three member Board of Commissioners. The county seat is Norristown. In 1999, There were 24 boroughs and 38 townships.

History:
Montgomery County was created from a portion of Philadelphia County on 10 September 1784. The county has its own flag, which is rare in Pennsylvania. It was flown for the first time on 10 September 1934, the county's 150th anniversary. It was adopted that year in the county colors of garnet and gray. There are three horizontal bars with the middle bar gray and the others garnet. TheCounty Seal is in the center gray bar.
