Lee County is in east-central South Carolina and is part of the Pee Dee Region of the state, along with 6 other counties: Marion, Marlboro, Williamsburg, Dillon, Florence and Darlington.
Lee County is surrounded by the following counties: Kershaw, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Florence, and Sumter.
The major crop for the county is Cotton where miles and miles of the white bolls may be seen each fall when the harvest begins. The importance of the crop for the county is emphasized with the annual Lee County Cotton Festival in Bishopville each year.
