history summary page. Beacon is referred to as the "Beacon Community" and is a very small, but very old community. It is a farming community. It used to have its own Post Office years ago, but not any longer. It shares a zip code with Parsons. The hub of the community is the Beacon Community Center. Once a month, the women members meet (starting at 5:00 am) and they make a few hundred fried pies. They then sell these to the factories in Parson's and Lexington. This is the way that they paid to have the building built!
