Wills Point history: First settled in 1846 by William Wills. Wills Points was founded in 1873 by General Grenville M. Dodge, an engineer, it was known as Iola. Later, when an application for a post office was made, the name was denied because there was already an Iola. The first settler of the area was William Wills and he lived where trees came to a point in a clearing, thus, the name chosen was Wills Point. The post office was established on September 23, 1870.
