History & History Related Items Mendota history: In 1891, the railroad built a station at what would later become Mendota. In less than ten years, a business district had built up around the station. The station was discontinued around 1910 and that, along with the ending of other economic supports hurt the local economy for a time. Once a mining operation opened and agricultural work expanded, there was more need for services. Mendota incorporated in 1942. Here is a nice history page for Mendota.
