Placentia history:

The community, once part of Rancho San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana (a Mexican land grant of 1837), was laid out in 1910 and developed as a center for citrus production. Its main growth as a residential center began in the 1950s. The city name is a Spanish word that means "pleasant place to live." It was suggested by Sarah Ann McFadden, one of the early landowners.
