History & History Related Items Indian Head history: There are several versions of how the city was named, but the most simple is that the kpeninsula was a "head" of land and was home to Indians when the first settlers arrived. Up until the late 1960's, Indian Head was a stable small town with businesses. About that time, neighboring areas began to grow with homes and business, especially the large planned community of St Charles. Many businesses opened in the new areas as well as some local business began to re-locate to the new areas also. Consequently, Indian Head has had reduced growth since that time.
