Union Bridge was settled even before the Revolutionary War with farming as the main occupation. The town was chartered on 2 May 1872. The founders are the Farquhars who came here from Pennsylvania. Mrs. Elizabeth Farquhar Wright brought two sugar maple trees here when she settled and many of the trees in town are descendents of those first trees!
