History & History Related Items Lantana history: The M.B. Lyman Family arrived here in 1888 and founded the town. They started several businesses including a post office of which Mr. Lyman was the postmaster. As the postmaster, he was able to name the town, which he did - Lantana Point. This was for the wild Lantan plant in the area. Later, the Point was dropped from the name. Return to Index
