History & History Related Items Manalapan history: First mention of the community was in 1889 when President Benjamin Harrison gave a grant to George H.K. Carter. It is located on a barrier island between the Florida Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Incorporation occurred in 1931 submitted by Commodore Harold Vanderbilt as the Town of Manalapan.
