History & History Related Items Laytonsville history: Originally, Laytonsville was known as Cracklintown, named for crackling bread which was baked here. In fact, the whole area was called Cracklin District. The first major road was built through here in the early 1800’s and was called the Brink-Sundown Road. The community began to be a major stop for those taking stock to market or moving crops. More buildings were built and stores were opened. Laytonsville incorporated in 1892.
